A Kansas Tradition

Steve and I experienced our first KU game last night.  The Jayhawks played the Longhorns at Allen Field House.  Our babysitter is a KU grad and she told us that if we showed up in Longhorn gear, we would probably get beat up.  Plus, we were taking somebody that is a supporter of Steve's company--and he's a huge KU fan.  We felt obligated wear blue and red (although I think Steve had a Texas shirt on under his blue KU shirt).

We learned about all of the KU traditions.  They boo their opponents when they're announced and hold up a copy of the KU paper and pretend to read it.  Then they rip up the paper when the Jayhawks are announced and throw it in the air when the first basket is made by the Hawks.

When an opposing player is fouled out or the opposing team is shooting free throws, they "wave the wheat".

Not the best pictures, but as you can see, everybody is wearing either blue or red.

It was such a fun experience, I can't wait to go again.  And then we got to come home to these two monkeys!
