Baby Shower

I was in Dallas last weekend for 48 hours to help host a baby shower for my dear friend Marissa.  We have known each other since we were four years old.  I'm grateful to have her as a friend and anxiously await the arrival of her baby boy!

Instead of buying cupcakes for the shower, we opted to make them ourselves.  We made buttercream frosting from scratch but used a box of cake mix for the cupcakes.  Just a tip I learned from Paula Deen - when using a box of cake mix and it calls for water, use melted butter instead.  It makes for an incredible cupcake.  We used cupcake toppers with the silhouette of a baby rattle on them.

We set out dishes of candy in the living room where Marissa would be opening her gifts.

We didn't play an games, but asked guests to share their best name suggestion.  Marissa read all of the names aloud before opening gifts.

We scattered tissue paper pom poms throughout the house.  Click HERE for the tutorial.

Paper globes hung from the mantel.  Click HERE for the tutorial.

And on their way out, guests had a choice of southern pecan ground coffee or maverick blend coffee beans.

It was a great shower and I can't wait to meet Baby J!
